Connection. Compassion.
A space to heal together.

Thelma is a highly accomplished Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with nearly twenty years of dedicated experience across the behavioral health and child welfare landscapes. Throughout her distinguished career, she has committed herself to supporting the holistic wellness of children, adolescents, adults, and families.
Thelma’s clinical philosophy is deeply rooted in trauma-informed care and relational safety. She understands that emotional regulation and healthy coping mechanisms are built upon secure attachments. Approaching every client with clinical warmth, deep empathy, and absolute non-judgment, she partners with individuals and families to help them dismantle complex behavioral patterns, process emotional pain, and discover their inherent capacity to thrive.
Thelma’s clinical perspective is uniquely enriched by her academic background. She began her education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, which provided her with a robust systemic understanding of family structures, community dynamics, and social influences on behavioral health. Driven by a passion for direct therapeutic intervention, she went on to earn her Master of Science in Counseling and Human Development.
A defining pillar of Thelma’s clinical expertise is her specialized training in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). Developed by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, TBRI is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children and families. By utilizing TBRI’s core principles of empowering, connecting, and correcting, Thelma offers families highly sophisticated, evidence-based strategies to mend relational gaps, manage distress, and restore emotional stability.
Over her two decades in the mental health field, Thelma has accumulated a wealth of experience across diverse community and clinical settings:
Serving as a Child & Family Specialist, managing community-based interventions, and navigating complex systems of care to protect and empower vulnerable youth.
Working on the frontlines of substance use recovery as an Addiction Case Manager and Behavioral Health Counselor, guiding adults through the physical, mental, and social complexities of recovery.
Providing individual, group, and family psychotherapy tailored to both in-person and secure telehealth settings.
In her active practice, Thelma integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with attachment-focused and trauma-sensitive interventions. Her clinical specialties include:
Partnering with parents to address executive dysfunction, ADHD, social-emotional delays, and childhood behavioral challenges.
Utilizing CBT to help adolescents and adults identify maladaptive cognitive patterns, build distress tolerance, and reclaim peace of mind.
Guiding individuals safely through the physical and emotional residue of acute or developmental trauma and profound life losses.
Supporting clients in developing healthy coping strategies to interrupt cycles of dependency and emotional stress.
